Talk about brazen:
Ayman al-Zawahiri, the deputy leader of al-Qaida and one of the most hunted men on Earth, plans to stage an online interview session in which he will answer questions submitted to Jihadi Web sites “by individuals, organizations and all information media outlets,” according to the group’s media arm.
The as-Sahab Foundation, which publishes audio-visual messages from al-Qaida leaders and videos of the group’s terror attacks, announced the plan at the end of a 90-minute TV interview with Zawahiri released over the weekend.
U.S. officials said this was a new technique for the al-Qaida leader and further evidence of the growing sophistication of the group’s propaganda operation.
“It’s a good PR move by Zawahiri,” said Jarret Brachman, the director of research at the U.S. Military Academy’s Combating Terrorism Center, comparing it to a Western politician going on MTV. “He’s trying to show he knows where the kids are at.”
He said it was the first time Zawahiri would engage directly with his followers in this way, although al-Qaida leaders in Saudi Arabia had held similar Q&A sessions before.
“You don’t see it nowadays,” he said of the technique, which is not a real-time online discussion. “He is trying to revive it.”
Brachman said Zawahiri had previously attempted to address topical issues by answering questions posed by an as-Sahab interviewer, as he did in the lengthy interview released Sunday.
He warned tribal leaders in Iraq cooperating with the U.S. military that they would lose “both their religion and their life” when the United States left the country. “The Americans will soon be departing, God permitting, and won’t keep defending them forever.”

Is Gordon Brown Nuts? Gordon Brown now sees a role for the Taliban in Afghanistan. That’s like me saying I see a role for Hitler in the German Government. I mean seriously folks you cannot negotiate with terrorists thugs. It just seems a bit naïve on Mr. Brown’s part to want to sit down and give the Taliban a seat at the table. Here is my two top reasons for not wanting to give the Taliban a chance or a seat at the table:
Number 1 and listen up good: DateLine: 12/14/07
Afghan police said Thursday that Taliban militants had shot dead a 60-year-old woman and her young grandson in public after accusing them of spying for the US military. Militants stopped the pair yesterday as they were walking to their home in south-central Uruzgan province, provincial police chief Juma Guld Himat told AFP.
Number 2 and listen up good: DateLine: 12/12/07
Taliban fighters hanged a 12-year-old boy from a mulberry tree, claiming he was passing information on Taliban roadside bomb attacks to police and British forces, Afghan police have said.
Somebody please get these stories to Mr. Gordon Brown because I’m sure he has never heard about them before! We long for the days of Tony Blair.

While Americans are getting ready for the Christmas Holiday Season let’s keep the innocent victims of the Taliban in our prayers. And just think, Gordon Brown the current Prime Minister of Great Britain was just talking about negotiating with the Taliban. How do you negotiate with this? Pure Evil!!!? Nothing is more horrendous than this:
Afghan police said Thursday that Taliban militants had shot dead a 60-year-old woman and her young grandson in public after accusing them of spying for the US military. Militants stopped the pair yesterday as they were walking to their home in south-central Uruzgan province, provincial police chief Juma Guld Himat told AFP. “Our investigations and findings from the area say they were accused of spying and were shot in front of other people,” he said, adding the boy was aged seven. He said they had been accused of “spying for Americans.” The incident was in the troubled Charchino district, which has seen heavy fighting this year between Taliban fighters and troops. There was no independent confirmation of the police account. The Islamic militant Taliban, who were ousted from government in late 2001, have killed and beheaded dozens people they accuse of siding with the government or its international allies here.
And Let’s Flashback 3 Days Ago:
Taliban fighters hanged a 12-year-old boy from a mulberry tree, claiming he was passing information on Taliban roadside bomb attacks to police and British forces, Afghan police have said. The gruesome murder, which occurred in Sangin, an area held by British forces since driving out the Taliban in April, sparked outrage among politicians, who accused the al-Qaeda-linked militant group of atrocities against villagers. It was the second execution of a child attributed to the Taliban in three months. “If this is true and the age is right it is an unforgettable crime,” said Haji Mohammed Anwar Khan, the head of Helmand provincial council. “If someone is a child their mind is not considered sufficiently mature to be held responsible under Sharia law. This is just a crime and we condemn it.” Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, also accused the Taliban of hanging a 15-year-old boy above a gas stove and lighting the flame beneath him, burning him alive, but it was unclear if he was referring to the same incident.
Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president accused the Taliban of doing this:
Hanging a 15-year-old boy above a gas stove and lighting the flame beneath him, burning him alive—”Does anyone believe a human being can be so savage as to burn alive a 15-year-old boy?” Mr Karzai said.

In a stunning turnaround in Iraq–Afghanistan has become a more dangerous place for US Troops than Iraq. Did you think 3 Months ago we would even imagine that possibility? No Way! Here is an excerpt from ABC News:
In a stunning turnaround, Afghanistan is now a more dangerous place for U.S. troops than Iraq. The death rate for U.S. troops in Afghanistan is now nearly twice the rate for those in Iraq, according to an analysis by ABC News. It’s a good news/bad news story. On one hand, security in Iraq has dramatically improved and as a result the number of U.S. troops killed and wounded has dropped considerably. October and November have been two of the least deadly months in Iraq since the invasion in March 2003. In fact, it’s the lowest two-month total of U.S. combat deaths in Iraq in nearly three years. (Not since January-February 2004 have fewer U.S. troops died in a two-month period). For the 23,000 Marines in Iraq, most of whom operate in Anbar province, the improvement has been especially dramatic. No Marine has been killed in combat in Iraq since Lance Cpl. Jeremy W. Burris of Tacoma, Wash., was shot in Anbar Oct. 8 (although just a few days ago a Marine was killed in a vehicle accident).
In fact, with the month of November nearly over, not a single U.S. soldier has been killed in action in all of Anbar province.
On the other hand, the situation has deteriorated in Afghanistan. There have already been 111 U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan in 2007, making this the deadliest year for U.S. troops in Afghanistan of the entire war.
“We are stagnating in Afghanistan, if not backsliding,” a senior U.S. military official tells ABC News.
